Description
One of America’s most popular chickens as well as one of our best brown egg layers, the Barred Rock is generally a calm, docile, friendly breed. They are cold hardy and heat tolerant, meaning they need shade coverage in the hotter months of the year. They do well in confinement or free range and can be somewhat broody. They make excellent community flock birds. Chicks are black with a white dot or splotch on their head.
