Description
Freedom Rangers are a great alternative to fast-growing white broilers. They grow at a slightly slower rate than the Cornish Cross taking an extra week or two to reach similar size. The Ranger is a cross between two unspecified heritage breeds. They are a great choice for calm, free range, foraging chickens. Unlike Cornish Cross they can be kept in a traditional flock environment living on average 1 to 2 years. For butchering purposes, we recommend you slaughter them at 10 to 12 weeks for best meat quality. They produce a tender, succulent meat with more yellow omega 3 fat and less saturated fat than other fast-growing breeds. Their coloring ranges from a lighter orangish-red to a little darker red with some black tips. Chicks are a solid red/brown color.
