Description
Bob White Quail grow very quickly and are enjoyed for many purposes. Hunters use them to train their dogs, some enjoy the dark meat they provide while others just enjoy listening to them in the yard calling “bob white”. They are often only heard instead of seen as they like to keep to dense, low coverage areas. Bob White mature at 16 weeks, can fly at 2 weeks of age, and when breeding, eggs take 23 days to hatch. Males have a white throat and brow stripe bordered by black compared to brown face-colored females. As day old chicks they are roughly the size of a nickel. In raising quail, we highly recommend a fully enclosed enclosure or they most likely will not stick around for long. If kept in captivity they need ample space and in large flocks, we recommend using eye blinders to prevent cannibalism. All gamebirds need a higher protein starter feed, we use 28%, and the usage of red heat lamps to prevent cannibalism during growth. We also use a quail water base so that the birds do not drown for the first 2 weeks of life. We only ship quail to surrounding states (ID) and at a minimum of 100. Any quantity can be picked up at our retail store.
QUAIL ARE VERY PREDATORY TOWARDS OTHER BIRDS. THEY MUST BE RAISED ONLY IN A FLOCK OF THEIR OWN KIND.
*The minimum quantity for shipping Quail is 100 and only to zones 1-4.
