Description
Known as the “Royalty of Meat Production”. Unlike standard meat breeds, Koshers are robust, active, and some say have one of the most flavorful meats available. They are great foragers and bring vivid color not typical to the meat bird. They can live in a traditional flock environment and live on average 1 to 2 years. For butchering purposes, we recommend your slaughter them at 11 to 13 weeks for best meat quality. A cross between a Barred Rock and a Sussex you can expect feather varieties of primarily barred or barred with red accents. However, on occasion red as well as white tones are more prevalent. The meat is tender, lower in saturated fat, and higher in Omega 3S than other comparable breeds. An excellent alternative to the Freedom Ranger which we also carry. Chicks are mainly black with white dots on head, sometimes red in the face. They can also be a red/brown or a white/gray.
