Description
The Rhode Island Red is one of our best brown egg layers. They start laying as early as 18 to 20 weeks of age. They are known to be energetic, friendly, and all temperature weather hardy. In extreme cold they are prone to comb frostbite, but petroleum jelly is a great preventative. Known to be dominant birds in community flocks, they can be prejudice if not raised together from babies. They have great feed conversion and will lay consistently for many years. Chicks are a rusty brown color.
