Description
We offer the Chinese Ringneck Pheasant. People enjoy them for many purposes, from hunting, dining or just to have around their acreage. These are hunted in the United States so regularly that 15 to 20 thousand are raised and released into the wild yearly by conservation agencies. Due to predation, it is very common for a pheasant’s life to be less than 1 year. Almost every state has a population, but most can be found in the Midwest and northern agricultural areas. They can start to fly as early as 2 weeks of age. The Ringneck will reach full maturity at around 18 weeks. It takes 23 – 25 days for their eggs to hatch. They have keen survival instincts and an uncanny ability to escape predation. Our Ringneck chicks are predominantly traditional brown and striped but occasionally a portion will be black typically with a white ring around the neck. This color variation will feather out differently than the traditional coloration. In raising pheasants, we highly recommend a fully enclosed enclosure or they most likely will not stick around for long. If kept in captivity they need ample space and in large flocks, we recommend using eye blinders to prevent cannibalism. All gamebirds need a higher protein starter feed, we use 28%, and the usage of red heat lamps to prevent cannibalism during growth. We also use a quail water base so that the birds do not drown for the first 2 weeks of life.
Ideally Pheasants are raised only with their own kind, but they can also be raised with Chukar. DO NOT RAISE WITH ANY OTHER BIRDS.
*The minimum quantity for shipping Pheasants is 35.
