Description
The Sussex is known to be active, docile, curious, and good foragers. They are adaptive to any environment but are prone to frostbite in extreme cold. Petroleum jelly is a great preventative for frostbite. Although semi-broody they can break easily. Their speckled coloring helps camouflage them from predators and they gain more speckles after each molt. Chicks are light brown with a dark brown stripe down the head and back as well as two lighter stripes alongside the back. They have more defined, larger yellow bellies than similar chicks as well as pink/tan legs.
